OCD Support Group

Where: 4010 Washington, Suite 401, Kansas City, MO
When: every other Wednesday evening, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm
(space is limited)
This OCD support group will be based on the G.O.A.L. handbook by Jonathan B. Grayson. The group?s goal is to help those suffering from OCD to:
1. understand the nature of their OCD, to understand how they can engage in seemingly irrational behaviors and still be as sane as anyone
2. understand how a problem can have biological components, but still require an intervention that goes beyond taking medication
3. take steps to begin to gain control over their OCD

The purpose of the group is to:
1. provide a place to discuss issues directly and indirectly related to OCD
2. foster and support individuals taking control over their OCD symptoms
3. allow informal socializing

? The group is open to individuals with OCD

? Each group session will include 30 minutes of educational/informational material, 30 minutes of individual goal identification and selection, and 30 minutes of debriefing/socializing

? Groups sessions will start on time and end on time

? Each session will include individual participation related to goal identification and accomplishment

The Rules

1. Everything we talk about is confidential
2. Respect the person who is talking by being courteous
3. We clean up after each meeting
4. This is a safe space; we can disagree but let?s not be disagreeable
